Delayed delivery

Disappointed with so late delivery which was shipped from NY and should not have taken 2-weeks

Great little devices to use as high-performance routers for home and small business

I purchased two of these X86-P5 units to use as network routers, installed OpenWrt on them, and they do a great job routing packets at the interfaces' full 2.5 Gbps speeds (when connected to LANs or WANs on both interfaces that actually support these speeds).

The build quality of the units is very solid. They do get a bit warm if left in a fanless configuration, but this doesn't seem to negatively impact their functioning otherwise.

Solid little pfSense box

NICs pulled up right away in pfSense, runs cool with the included fan, no complaints with the computer itself.

Only real issue: included fan is USB powered. Not only does it reduce you down to a single USB while it's running, the cable for it is extraordinarily short, so it sits under tension constantly.

A nice firewall unit with a few quirks

Using this to run an OPNsense transparent bridge & firewall between modem and router. Seems to be solid hardware, and so far so good. The unit could stand more than two USB ports, or else you need to unplug the fan to connect keyboard & mouse for local management. The internal USB and fan headers are non-standard. The fan headers appear to be GPU style, so you need a hard-to-find GPU fan to standard 4-pin PWM fan adapter to use them. Also had to buy a hard-to-find 4-PIN USB female to standard USB adapter to connect anything to internal USB connector. It seems to me that if you going to use these kinds of connectors on your motherboards you ought to sell such adapters. My unit ran hot I changed out the thermal pasted and dropped temps by nearly 20 degrees C. Included fan an does a great job of cooling but is LOUD and annoying if installed near the user. Overall it's a keeper.
