I had some questions regarding the board and support was very friendly and answered to all of my questions. The shipping was fast, and the board is in great condition.
I was looking for a replacement for an old Supermicro Xeon board to build a compact 4×M.2 NAS, and this board checked all the boxes.
I went with the version that has the i5-12450H so I could use an M.2 boot drive via an extension card. My existing setup worked right away—no issues detecting all four M.2 drives, and RAID came up without any trouble.
I tuned the system a bit in BIOS, lowering the TDP to around 12.5–20W and setting the CPU fan minimum to 15%. That made the system basically whisper quiet while still staying stable.
I also tested both internal and external PSU setups, and both worked without problems.
The only downside is the included 10 cm SFF-8654 cables—they’re way too short for any real build and are basically only useful for testing. I had to order longer ones to make everything fit properly.
I bought this board mainly because there was a serious shortage of N355 boards at the time, and this was basically the only realistic option available.
To be fair, it is not a bad board. The idea behind it is interesting: compact form factor, modern platform, and a design that looks flexible enough for a small NAS or SSD-based server. On paper, it seems like a very smart solution.
In real use, though, it feels much less polished.
The biggest issue is expansion. Once you start dealing with the daughterboard, adapters, and SATA-related options, things stop feeling simple and solid. For a NAS build, that is a problem. A NAS motherboard should be reliable and straightforward, not something that makes you constantly think about workarounds and compromises.
I think this board makes more sense for people who want to experiment, or for builds focused mainly on NVMe and fast storage. In that kind of setup, it can still be interesting. But for a serious always-on NAS, I did not find it reassuring enough.
So overall, my opinion is mixed: good concept, not terrible hardware, but too compromised to feel like the right long-term choice.
Final rating: interesting, but I would only recommend it if you do not have better alternatives.
Its a great NAS board all round, I would suggest to buy the 12450H version to obtain all PCI lanes and functionality. I am fully utilising the onboard 10GB SFP+ with my 10gb network. I have also added a HBA LSI card in the PCI slot to enable a SAS backplane aswell as using the NVME backplane, giving me the best of both worlds. I used crucial ram which seems to work well with this board. I haven't dabbled with C states but that doesn't bother me. FYI, if you want to use a PSU instead of the barrrel jack, you only need to plug the CPU EPS 8 pin into the 8 pin slot on the board, don't forget the PSU will need to be jump started (i just used a paperclip) for PSU to supply power.
I bought this motherboard and I am really satisfied. I went to 10G internet and realized my 8yo Macchiattobin was'nt able to transmit the signal past 6G.
So I decided to upgrade my router-server-nas, and start searching a board that with 2 10g ethernet ports, decent cpu, nvme and sata ports, low power consumption, small form factor (it stands behind books in a bookshelf) and finally silent...
Well, there's not many options... Solidrun offers the HoneyComb Ryzen V3000 which is probably perfect but 1000$ seems a lot of money.
So I took the plunge and ordered this chinese board for 300$, added some RAM, sfp+ modules, and my drives and got it running.
I realized soon that the board needs some amps and ended buying a meanwell 12V 180W desktop adapter for it.
If you need sata ports, you can't just plug in a SFF-8654 to sata cable as I tried, there's no sata controller on the board. but CWWK sells a M.2 to SATA3.0 (15$) which works great on the nvme board included.
In the end, I've got a fast, reliable, almost silent, proxmox server that runs a few VMs (mailserver, nextcloud, some audio stuff) and containers with a backup solution for everything running at my place.
When idle, which is most of the time, it consumes about 20W and otherwise never goes past 50W other than at boot, which is almost never.
In short, go for it if you need dual sfp+ cage and relatively low power consumption and decent cpu.
